If you know me and my artistic endeavors then you don’t need to read this post. This one has changed in little ways, like its name or setting, but the central story has stayed so it won’t be new to you.
If you are not one of these unfortunate souls, Red & Adalwulf is a fantasy/mystery detective series. Most characters come from fairytales or folklore from around the world, including the (obvious) German, African, Japanese, Chinese, Brazil, and more.
The story follows Rose Red and Pace Adalwulf, as they clash and work to solve cases together. Red (from the stories of “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Snow White & Rose Red”) is a no-nonsense, dedicated knight with the highest number of closed cases in the kingdom. However, having also the most complaints filed against her by her peers, she finds herself serving with the only Sheriff who is willing to put up with her.
Pace (drawn from many stories of “the wolf” from around the world) is a werewolf who decides to come out of his retirement from the military to serve as a knight alongside Red. He is a kind, easy-to-talk-to man, who is loyal to a fault. Compared to the rest of the werewolf community, Pace has amazing self-control while in wolf form, which gives him a powerful-all be it risky-advantage.
Working with many other characters, inspired by “Jack & the BeanStalk”, “The Boy who Knew No Fear”, “Handel & Gretel”, “Anansi the Spider” and “the Jungle Books” (just to name a few), this odds-and-ends group will do their best to keep their side of the kingdom at peace.
There’s a lot more I can say, but I feel like saying more now will propel me into chaotic explanations, and I need to be better at narrowing and organizing my thoughts. But there’s always another post, right? So, until next time, peace be with you!
